Femicide Set To Become A Criminal Offence In Italy.
Italy’s parliament has approved a law that defines femicide, the murder of a woman motivated by her gender, and punishes it with life imprisonment.
The law received bipartisan support from the center-right majority and the center-left opposition in the Lower Chamber’s final vote, passing by 237 votes.
The bill’s passage also coincided with the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women, a day dedicated to combating violence against women worldwide.
